THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Gloria Phifer

The Hebrew is taken from Strongs Concordance

Who is the Person of the Holy Spirit? How would you explain the Holy Spirit to someone?
Genesis 1:1-3. In the beginning…God created the heaven and the earth.  We have studied this portion before…we are now looking at the Holy Spirit in creation. God in Hebrew (in this portion of scripture) is Elohiym." It is especially the plural of the supreme God. The true God. Deity. Elohiym comes from the Hebrew word "El" "Strength, mighty, especially The Almighty. God. Great, Mighty One, Power, Strong. God the One true God…Jehovah. "Notice, this is a plural Name. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
(Genesis 1:26 And God (Elohiym) said, let Us make man in Our image. (Plural).)
Any thoughts on Elohiym?

The Spirit of God (Elohiym) moved upon the face of the waters. Spirit in Hebrew is "Rawach"…roo-akh. Wind, by resemblance breath. Breath, mind, spirit. Wind in Heaven. Breath of air. As Gift preserved by God. God's Spirit, departing at death. Spirit of God. The Third Person of the Triune God. The Holy Spirit, Coequal, Coeternal with the Father and the Son. Energy of life. As manifest in the Shekina Glory. To blow…breathe"
What specially stands out to you in this description of the Spirit of God in Hebrew?
I loved "Wind in Heaven." And Energy of Life…and Shekina Glory.

The Holy Spirit moved over the face of the dark water.  Moved in Hebrew "rachaph" (raw-khaf) to brood. To be relaxed. Flutter, move, and shake. To grow soft. Relax. To hover.
He brooded over the darkness. It reminds me of a bird brooding over her nest to hatch her offspring…to bring forth life out of those eggs. The Holy Spirit hovered over the darkness…over the chaos.
Elohiym said (said in Hebrew…Amar) "To say with great latitude. Call, certify, challenge, charge, command. To declare, expressly, Speak, to intend." Our Creator had an intention.
"LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!"

The Holy Spirit broods over our darkness and God speaks "LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!"  And we see Jesus (The Light). The Holy Spirit convicts us that we are sinners and He reveals to us our need for our Savior Jesus Christ. (John 16:7-11.)

My life was in darkness and chaos. I remember when the Holy Spirit hovered over my life, convicting me of sin and drawing me to Jesus Christ. When I accepted Jesus, just like you, I became a new creation. 2 Cor. 5:17.
Have you pondered the thought that in Christ you are a new creation?

Gen. 2:7 The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Life. Breath- "Chayah (khah-ee) To breathe, blow, to cause to breathe out. Life, living, alive, sustenance, be quickened…to live…to give life.
Gen. 2:4-7. It is always interesting to me that when Elohyim begins to speak about man He becomes" Lord God." The Name Lord in Hebrew is "Jehovah" Jehovah Elohyim. Jehovah is a Covenant Name. He is a Covenant God. He keeps His covenant with man.  Hebrew "Jehovah…the existing One. The proper Name of the One True God. From another Hebrew word "Hayah (haw-yaw) To exist. Be in existence."
Many ask "Is there a God?" Here is the answer.  Hayah…the only true God exists!!!
            HE IS!!!

The Breath of God…the Holy Spirit of God… breathed into Adam and he became a "living soul" Hebrew "nephesh" a breathing creature. Person, that which breathes. The breathing substance of being, soul, the inner being of man. Living being, with life in the blood. Alive!"

Let's talk about being alive. How we breathe, without effort. How oxygen is provided for us in the air we breathe. When we come from our mother's womb and we take our first breath. When our children were born and we heard them take their first breath and cry.
How awesome were those cries to me. All my children were "red-faced" and crying. (Adam means" red" as having the blood flowing through."

The Holy Spirit is the Life Giving Spirit of God. He is the Resurrection Power that raised Jesus from the dead. Romans.8:6-11. The Resurrection Power of the Holy Spirit, that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. Hallelujah!!!
